House of Science Wairarapa Charitable Trust is a community-led provider of innovative science education services. We provide quality science resources and teacher professional learning and development to primary and intermediate schools in the Wairarapa. It is our goal to make fun, hands-on science learning available to all Wairarapa children, and build their confidence and ability in science. The Trust House Foundation provided House of Science Wairarapa funding to support our General Manager for six months and to help set up our resource library.

The support of the Trust House Foundation has enabled us to get established and expand in the Wairarapa. Thanks to their support, we now have 19 member schools throughout the Wairarapa from Mauriceville to Pirinoa. Over 3,000 children aged 5-12 years from all backgrounds and their teachers are now benefiting from these resources. These children and teachers have weekly access to science resources that otherwise would not have been available. The students and teachers are able to book a science resource around a particular theme and spend the week exploring this theme by doing hands-on activities. These kits are bilingual (English and Te Reo Māori) and contain everything a teacher needs including all consumables.

Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Wairarapa said “These are great for both teachers and students in every way!

St Patrick’s School said “We had so much fun. It generated a lot of scientific questions. They can't wait for the next one.”
