The Gaming Machine Association of New Zealand has submitted its views to the Central Hawke’s Bay District Council as part of the review of its Gambling Venue Policy. Representing most of New Zealand’s licensed gaming machine societies, the Association provides evidence and local data to support a balanced, practical approach.
The submission supports retaining the current policy (Option 2), noting there is no new evidence to justify a shift to a sinking‑lid approach. It also highlights the significant community funding returned to Central Hawke’s Bay and the continued decline in local gaming machine numbers.

The Gaming Machine Association of New Zealand has provided feedback to Tasman District Council as part of its Gambling Venue Policy review. Representing most of New Zealand’s licensed gaming machine societies, the Association offers evidence and local data to support a balanced approach.
The feedback recommends adopting a relocation provision as a harm‑minimisation tool and replacing the sinking lid with a cap at the current 129 machines. It also highlights the significant community funding returned to the Tasman District and the continued decline in local machine numbers
