Who we are

The Gaming Machine Association of New Zealand (GMANZ) is an incorporated society representing the gaming machine sector in New Zealand. We make sure the voices of societies, venues, operators, tech experts, and all people employed by this industry are heard in discussions about class 4 gambling at a regional and national level.
In New Zealand, 100 percent of class 4 gambling spend is returned to the community after prizes are paid out and operating costs covered. Returning 100 percent of the remaining spend in the form of community grants is a unique and world-leading model for running our gaming machine sector.
In 2024, $366m was given to nearly 9000 community groups around the country. These grants are vitally important for millions of New Zealanders and their families. Gaming revenue pays for youth services, sports, disability groups, arts, ambulances, and much more. GMANZ is proud to be part of an ecosystem which sustains initiatives that help communities thrive..
GMANZ is committed to reducing and mitigating problem gambling in New Zealand, and we are in full support of the government’s aims to minimise gambling harm.
Our sector happily pays tens of millions per year to the Gambling Levy which pays agencies to provide harm reduction services.
